Background
Alex (He/Him) is a young contemporary & abstract artist from the Orlando, FL area. Always having an eye for nuance in backgrounds & details, he first started painting on canvas in 2021.
Inspiration
Involved in rock music performance (guitar/bass/drums) since he was just 10 years old, Alex became enamored with the visual arts in 2020 and then discovered the works of street/graffiti artists Jean-Michel Basquiat, Banksy, and Keith Haring. He finds the connection of this style of artwork to social issues, pop-culture, and music as forever relevant in society.
Process
For Alex, the creative process is relaxing and invigorating all at once, and listening to different kinds of music...from Thundercat to Rage Against the Machine to Weezer to Tyler the Creator and beyond...is always a big part of that process. His ideal creative environment is found within the solitude of the back porch of his family's home with airpods in his ears, surrounded by paint cans, brushes, & supplies while his cat stares at him through the sliding door.
